The activities contain a vocabulary section to ensure students are comprehending the material, a reading section which includes much of the vocabulary and introduces students to the topic, a STEM section which requires students to scientifically think about the material and may include vocabulary, and a writing section which requires students to reflect on the material or answer the prompt using evidence or by making inferences.

The Brief Student Reading:

When you are anti- something it means that you oppose it. The dictionary has a long list of words that begin with this prefix (e.g., anti-bacterial, antiterrorism, Antichrist, anti-blackness, etc.).

Unfortunately, in America, African/Black Americans have been terrorized by European Americans due to the latter’s anti-black attitudes which they developed to keep Black people subjugated.

European Americans and other non-black peoples were encouraged to adopt these anti-black attitudes so they themselves could rise socially above the so-called black peoples of the world.

To keep anti-Blackness relevant, non-blacks created caricatures of Black people and made films depicting black people as buffoons and criminals. This is something Hollywood filmmakers still do today. Many films are ant-Black and portray Black people as perverse.

Also today, many people around the world believe that Black Americans behave in the manner they see on TV. The mainstream news is the main medium which promotes anti-blackness on a daily basis.
